01 what it is
A geodesic dome is a light, strong, low-impact structure that can become a cabin, a glamping unit, a studio or a greenhouse. The course teaches building one with metal connectors: the theory, the design, calculating struts and angles, fabrication, tools, coverings and the extras, from doors and windows to the foundation.
The classes are hands-on and theory both, with Jorge Maron of Ameríndia, at Sítio Saramandala in Sarapuí (SP), a bio-construction and permaculture centre with several domes already standing. By the end, the group has raised its first dome. Details on the course page.
For Stéfano, it is learning with his own hands, from the first cut to the standing frame, and telling that process, which will be a new episode of his series “Descobre no Caminho”.
